External Relations Intern
Summary
Assist in developing written communications and content creation strategies.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist in the development of communication strategies.
- Assist in the design and implementation of awareness-raising campaigns.
- Assist in the creation and production of videos for public dissemination.
- Provide writing support for the development of internal and external strategic documents.
- Draft press releases.
- Draft internal newsletters and communications.
- Assist in logistical and administrative support as requested.

Employment Standards
Education
Current enrollment in associate or bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university with major studies in project management, public administration, business, engineering, or science.

Conditions of Employment
Knowledge
Familiarity with social media, video creation software, website development, and graphic design.
Skills
- Must be proficient with typing, scanning, and administrative technology.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs with advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Must understand, follow, and promote OSHA safety guidelines in the workplace.
Abilities
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing; work effectively with other agency staff and vendors; manage multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines.
Physical Demands
Work is light requiring lifting of computer equipment, and involves typical office behaviors. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds.
